Snoop Dogg is a businessman, but even seven figures weren’t enough for Michael Jordan to sign him.
During an episode of Logan Paul ‘s Impaulsive podcast released on Tuesday (May 24), West Coast legend Snoop Dogg revealed that MJ offered him $2 million to DJ at his event, but he declined due to other obligations. To this day, Snoop has yet to meet the great NBA athlete in person.
“One of the craziest deals I turned down was $2 million to DJ for a Michael Jordan event, and I turned it down ,” he explained. “And I’ve never met Michael Jordan, and I want to meet him. Because I was doing other stops, I had things to do and I had a lot more customers before I got to you [laughs]. No, but I’ve never met Michael Jordan, and I want to meet him, and I want to meet him in a different one – I don’t want to meet him in any DJing. I want to meet him as a fan, as a boss.”
“It’s like, ‘Mike, I’ve loved you since North Carolina, I’m a huge fan of yours, I love what you do, you’re one of the best you’ve ever done. Tell me some secrets about how you did it. Can I take a picture with you? Do you want to smoke a joint? Hey man, it’s been real.’”
Snoop Dogg then went into detail on why he respects Michael Jordan so much , citing his wins against the Georgetown Hoyas and Los Angeles Lakers. “How could I not [make a lot of admiration for him]? I am a black man,” he said. “I watched it in North Carolina when a freshman took part in it and beat Georgetown. I was a fan of Georgetown back then, Dawg Pound, Georgetown Hoyas. So I had to fall in love with him because he hit my team. Then the next year I saw him win Player of the Year, then I saw him do his thing with the [Chicago] Bulls and he hit 63 on [Larry] Bird and broke his ankle. I’m like, ‘This motherfucker is different!’ So his first championship came through us – he had to beat the Lakers.”
He added: “So think about what I just said: he hit Georgetown Hoyas, who was my team, he hit the Lakers, who were my team, so it’s respect. You earn respect through competition, I think, and you can honor that. As far as if you box someone, you can talk shit about them, so when you’re done fighting, you’re friends…, ‘This motherfucker can really fight.’ You end up hugging and shaking [hands], you’re like, ‘You know what? You’re a bad motherfucker, I respect you, man.’”
Despite his great respect for Michael Jordan, he is still number 2 among Snoop Dogg ‘s all-time favorite NBA players , behind Magic Johnson . Even if his praise for LeBron James in 2020 said otherwise.
